Out & About with Kimberly Dawn

Tragedies like the fires over the past few weeks, in Los Angeles, can be overwhelming. Do you know what else is overwhelming? The amount of goodwill and support people give, acting together as one community in a crisis. Last week, Los Angeles didn’t feel like a big city, it felt like a small town with everyone looking out for each other. It was that giving spirit, that Independent artist and What’s In-Store Music client, Kimberly Dawn brought to the stage at the Hotel Café in HollywoodHer set was dedicated to all the people affected by the fires, and one hundred percent of the proceeds went toward the relief effort to help them. I’m pleased to report the room was filled with people there to have a good time, hear great music, and support their community, from the moment she took the stage with her pink rhinestone bedazzled microphone in hand and started singing Kimberly commanded the room. She treated the crowd to original tunes from her catalog and showcased new, yet-to-be-released music. Highlights were the up-tempo “In Love With Tennessee”, which highlighted her five-piece band. “Faded Blue Jeans”, which she is putting the finishing touches on for an upcoming release, and her take on Miley Cyrus – “Flowers”.  It was a much-needed evening of normalcy in an otherwise chaotic week. Thank you to Kimberly Dawn for a great night of music, and big thanks to my former Interscope workmate, Jesse Flohr for introducing me to this terrific artist.
